A common, and valid, criticism levied against those who disagree with the entertainment wing of the prevailing regime is its unwillingness to do anything about it but complain. The bitch-and-moan economy is lucrative, but symbiotic, relying on the complained-about entertainment products to drive an audience for the complainers . . . whose complaints end up providing free publicity for and driving sales to the complained-about product.
Better to starve the beast; not of money, because this isn’t about money, but of attention. Better to build than attempt to reform, because there is no reforming the beast. For all the efforts of this or that YouTube channel bemoaning how bad laser sword franchise or whatever is, what has been accomplished? Nothing. The people making this stuff still hate you.
So build. Build and build and build some more. Create or support, or both if you’re so inclined. Help create the alternative infrastructure that will remain when all else crumbles. Put your time, attention, and dignity1 elsewhere.
It’s hard to discuss this stuff without getting political, but sadly this is our moment. Given that the prevailing morality and culture (including entertainment, like books) of the United States is deeply and sincerely left-wing, any opposition to it is by definition reactionary: what is “right-wing” in the United States other than “not left-wing?” America just doesn’t have a widespread understanding or the same tradition of what being “on the right” means like Europe does, because America was liberal from the start. Here, being “on the right” equals “Nazi” to far too many who just don’t think about this. Therefore, any disagreement with the prevailing order of things on any issue is considered “Nazi.”
We’ve had this discussion a million times before. I’ll only add that it’s the equivalent of those post-9/11 days when any opposition to the Patriot Act or the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq were considered “communist.”
Further confusing things, “right-wing” gets conflated with that perpetual, nominal/controlled2 opposition, “conservative.” Despite the problems with the nomenclature we use in current American political discourse—conservatives, for example, are not right-wing—we need to use the vocabulary we have.
, piggybacking off an accurate tweet, noted that looking for help from establishment conservatives will get you nowhere:Right wing and conservative rich men do not care about God or culture. They worship money. I’ve seen it first hand. They have no interest in shaping the world culturally or spiritually.
They’ve never reflected on the deeper meaning of life.
They want to be the richest men in the graveyard.
What’s funny is that most of them will leave vast sums of money to charities or ingrate kids who will fund the left. Do you think John D. Rockefeller would have wanted to lead the charge to mutilate children? Well that’s what his money does, from the grave.
There is no cavalry coming over the hill to save us. We are the cavalry.
Thank you and I hope you find something good to read.

Yes, money too, but I’m trying not to be crass here.
Depending on your perspective.
We have a serious problem with demarcation on the nominal American right.
Very well said!
