Poetry is an interesting, especially in our current moment. It brings to mind the thing many anti-Christians say, which is "It's not Christianity I dislike, but Christians." I feel the same way about modern poetry: "It's not poetry as an artform I dislike, but the poems I see (and the people producing it)." Sure, that is not fair, and as with everything there is good stuff out there, but as you astutely point out in your piece, the poetry being promoted in popular outlets tends to have a blatant ideological bent.
In any event, as with most things, if we want it we have to create it. Be the change, etc. and so on.
