Alexander,

Mystery Grove wrote a similar kind of tweet. Communism is about weird people who make it a crime to be normal and steal your stuff (i'm paraphrasing)

The bad thing happening to bad people who hold bad opinion is infantile moralism. A complete shallowness about the human condition stemming from an unmerited religious smugness. They're the good(tm) and everyone else not like them are bad (tm)and require the latter to do bad things to the latter because their conscience compels them. Narcissistic abusers.

Mystery Grove! Yes, that’s who it was. Thank you.

Your point about Kirn’s observation is spot on: “infantile moralism” is the perfect way to put it. I think about Fred in the execrable Velma cartoon who is routinely mocked and has a micro penis, etc., because he’s a white man, and that’s enough for him to be soundly humiliated at every turn. Because evil. Yes, that’s based on a character’s identity and not their opinion, but both are enough in too many stories to warrant the treatment Kirn rightly decries.

Alexander,

And this demonstrates clearly the infantalism as well as the mean girl syndrome. In the real world, Velma would've had a severe beat down or chased out of town forever. Note how Fred wasn't just white, but emasculated. He was a racist because of his male organ was small? Get outta here! Don't minimize the evils of racism, and don't foist it on one group. All humans suffer from that vice.

To conclude, wokeism's binary black and white morality is just gnosticsm in a new skin suit for a new century.

Gnosticism? Maybe more like a spiritually dead Manichaeism? Either way, it isn’t “Marxist,” cultural or otherwise, in the least. It’s an ersatz religion.

Agreed.

University is the death of artistic inspiration. It takes a lot of effort, as a student, to keep the Muses' voice within you while you've to go through this environment. You can make good art only by staying away or by finding a way to avoid being spiritually engulfed by it.

So yeah: don't expect anything decent from (most) grad students.

I do find it very interesting that so many professional authors, many who have gone through university creative writing programs, strongly warn up-and-coming authors against attending university creative writing programs. I can't tell if it's a cynical ploy to weed out competition, as programs like this can provide contacts and the necessary prestige, for what it's wroth, to get into the business, or if it's a heartfelt warning that these programs stifle true creativity and artistic vision.

The world may never know.

I do and I’m not knocking either the musician or the show. I just find the right’s love of them interesting because it’s clear that they TRANSCEND politics and don’t fully embrace one side or the other, at least as far as I can see and hear.

It’s very interesting that merely being true-to-life qualifies something as not-leftist, at least as leftism currently exists. There’s TONS of great left-wing art, mainly because real life isn’t divided into the right/left either/or binary.

It's almost a weird inverse of the rule of power.
